Enjoy listening to Aurum Tetra, Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra in the premiere performance at the Bellingham Festival of Music in Bellingham, Washington, on July 1, 2017. It was composed by Benjamin Dean Taylor and performed by the Calidore String Quartet and the Bellingham Festival Orchestra, conducted by Michael Palmer. This piece was partially funded by Coretet. Coretet was founded in September 2015, to commission new chamber music for young musicians. After hearing from several musicians how meaningful it is to be able to interact with a living composer, the importance of making new music available became a priority. Not only do many musicians benefit from interacting with a composer on a current piece of music but many feel it gives them new insights to the old classics. The level of talent in young musicians and composers of today is at a higher level and their music should be heard.
